Charity has always been a core principle of Freemasonry. Individuals can make an important contribution at local, national and global level by giving both their time and money.

Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing £42m to deserving causes in 2019 alone. Freemasons do not only donate money – more than 18.5 million hours of volunteer work was undertaken by Freemasons in 2018.

To raise money for the MCF, provinces in England and Wales organise fundraising appeals known as festivals. A festival appeal usually lasts for five years. Festival appeals are a vital source of funding and generate the majority of donations made to the MCF. We are extremely grateful for the hard work and generosity of Freemasons who support their festival appeals.

In St John's lodge we are currently supporting the Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire Provincial Festival appeal.  For the next few years, until 2024, the Province will be attempting to raise at least £2.024m in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation, our national Masonic charity.  It provides invaluable support for Freemasons and their families, many of them in this Province. Whilst this is its main focus, it also supports charities in the wider community.
